TLG Compensation and Benefits Package
10 reasons why TLG is the company for you
1. We are committed to continuing professional development
TLG trainers receive at least 32 hours of paid training every year which covers a range of hard and soft skills designed to help them excel in their role. This amounts to more than 2.5 hours training a month and at least 40 minutes each week.
In addition to formal training sessions, our trainers have 24/7 access to our learning and development portal which has been designed to support continuing professional development. It includes answers to common questions, tips for lesson delivery, and a whole host of other information relating to the trainer role and our organisation.
Not only that, we invest in the career progression of our team. Trainers who have worked with us for over 12 months have the opportunity to receive training in coaching and management in order to work towards the role of Senior Trainer.
2. We only work with professional clients
TLG only works with serious and dedicated business professionals, which means no screaming children or grumpy teenagers! All of our students are adult learners who are often experts in their field. Our trainers become their trusted advisors and help them see real world results with their English.
3. We offer a generous and flexible annual leave package
Italian public holidays are paid for full time staff (and for part time staff if they fall on a working day). In addition, we offer 25 days of paid holiday, bringing the total to 38 days. This translates to 6 weeks paid leave each year. We also offer 4 days of paid hourly leave - called permesso - that can be taken for administrative or health matters, such as visiting the doctor or the bank during the working week.
Requesting leave couldn’t be simpler - you just need to head to the learning and development portal and fill in a quick form. Our digital calendar takes care of rescheduling your students so you don’t have anything to worry about while you’re gone.
4. We’re an eco company and we’re serious about our environmental responsibilities
When you think of English teaching, do you imagine textbooks, notebooks, and thousands of print outs of exercises and worksheets? Think again. TLG is a paperless company. Not only do we hold an ISO environmental certification, but we’re committed to minimising our environmental impact and encouraging those who work with us to do the same.
5. We’ll support you through life’s ups and downs
Noone should have to be worrying about work when they are unwell. At TLG absences because of sickness, injury or hospital visits are all paid via the INPS (Italian social security and welfare office) scheme. All that is required is a valid doctor’s note covering the period of absence.
Are you planning on starting a family? We provide both maternity and paternity leave for expectant parents. Wherever possible, we also provide unpaid leave for caregivers, e.g. in the event that a child is sick or there are problems with childcare. To add to that, we offer honeymoon leave. Newlyweds are entitled to paid marriage leave for 15 calendar days, to be used within a month of the wedding.
6. At TLG, hard work pays off!
We believe that hard work and commitment should be rewarded, which is why we operate a bonus scheme for our trainers, which is usually discussed during the trainer’s yearly appraisal. We appreciate that monetary bonuses are heavily taxed and so we also offer to convert the value of the bonus into other perks, such as computers, tablets or even airline tickets.
7. We believe that you get what you pay for
We employ trainers with strong academic backgrounds, many of whom have had successful careers in business, and who bring a wealth of experience and skills to our business. In return, we offer a competitive remuneration package, above the national average.
A trainer’s salary at TLG is divided into 13 payments, which means you receive a 13th payment (the tredicesima) of your salary during December. Just in time for Christmas shopping!
8. At TLG, there is no wasted time, hanging around between lessons
Your lessons are block booked in one client location. In gaps between lessons or when you have a cancellation, you are paid to complete admin and other tasks. We make sure our talented team is not standing around for hours and not being paid. In the event that you do need to move between clients or to attend training, this time will be reimbursed.
9. We always maintain and happy and health work/life balance
Our office hours are from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. Full-time trainers work 38 hours, which means they have the option to start at 11am or leave at 4pm on one of these days. We also offer a variety of part-time contracts.
Unlike some teaching positions, trainers at TLG are never expected to work overtime and there is no time spent working on lesson plans in the evenings and weekends.
10. We know that a positive working environment makes for a happier team and better results
TLG is made up of a diverse team of passionate, interesting and motivated individuals, from all walks of life and from all corners of the world. We embrace these differences and we are fully committed to maintaining a positive workplace culture. We work in a high level business environment, delivering an exceptional professional service, but as a team, we are also creative, fun and supportive.
